WOOD PELLET PRODUCTION FACILITY
PROJECT INFORMATION:Project: Wood Pellet Production Facility
Location: Cottondale, Florida
Owner: Green Circle Bio Energy, Inc.
Construction Cost: $19.78 Million
Project Size: 225 Acres
Completion: April 2008Pellet Plant #1, located in Cottondale, Florida is the world’s largest pellet production facility, boasting a production capacity of 560,000 tons per year. Today the plant is operating at capacity and the operator, Green Circle Bio Energy, is in the process of navigating the regulatory environment to seek approval for the plant’s expansion.
Located on a 225 acre site in rural Jackson County, the plant is strategically located within Florida’s “wood basket” and sits 58 miles from Panama City (a deep water port) and is adjacent to a rail line and one of the busiest e-w interstates in the country.
To access all of these transportation options, the site required several improvements including a rail spur, new roadway connection, and new utilities, all of which were supported with local, state, and federal incentives, helping off-set the owner’s capital investment.
