PALMER COLLEGE OF CHIROPRACTIC – STUDENT CENTER

PROJECT INFORMATION:
Project: Palmer College of Chiropractic – Standard Process Student Center
Location: Port Orange, Florida
Owner: Palmer College of Chiropractic
Construction Cost: $3.2 Million
Project Size: 20,000 SF
Completion: March 2012

The new 2-story, 20,000 square foot building is a centerpiece for the campus. Located in the middle of campus, the building overlooks a feature pond, and was designed to flow onto an existing patio with cantilevers out over the edge of the pond. In order to accommodate its location, existing underground infrastructure (including the campuses’ chilled water lines) and site improvement (i.e. sidewalks) had to be removed or relocated to allow for the new footprint.

The masonry and structural steel building is dominated by a curtain-wall glazing assembly, with the balance of the exterior clad in stucco and composite aluminum wall panels.

The first floor boasts an open food pavilion with both interior and exterior seating and the second floor is an open assembly space capable of seating 456 persons. The building’s design offers views of the pond and fountain to the west from almost any point within the space.
