The University Dialysis Center (UDC), originally built in the mid-1950’s has undergone several changes over the past 60 years. The building’s current tenant, UF’s College of Medicine, desired upgrades to much of the building’s interiors as well as improvements to the building envelope and replacement of the building’s mechanical systems  Now complete, the project was an all-around success and our team received the praise of the owner, user group and the project’s neighbors.

The project also presented a unique coordination challenge. The building’s other tenants, the NE Florida Regional Poison Control Center and UF Health Jacksonville security offices, while not part of the project’s scope of work, nonetheless were part of the project. Both provide critical services that could not be interrupted, requiring a very tactical approach to implementing the system upgrades and building envelope improvements as to avoid a disruption. Another challenge was the building’s location being within the UF Health Jacksonville campus, which required careful consideration and close coordination with neighboring operations.
