The Jacksonville Zoo and Garden’s newest permanent exhibit opened to the public in March 2009. Monsoon Asia, which includes the Asian Bamboo Gardens and Komodo Dragon Exhibit is themed after a variety of Asian cultures.
The first area that greets visitors is the Asian Bamboo Gardens. A traditional Moon Gate welcomes visitors to the Asian Bamboo Garden, an exhibit which features a koi pond, lotus pool, bamboo forest, and a 1,764 square foot pavilion.
The rambling path weaves through the garden, including a off-shot that takes guests into a bamboo forest, which is complete with bronze sculptures of an iconic Asian animal, the Giant Panda.
